Question on education, learning and
teaching that he /she is facing
I live in
batla house, okhla. Batla house situated at bank of Yamuna River. At bank area
there lots of empty field is available so people go for morning and evening
walk. One day I also went for walking. I
looked that a boy age may be nine or ten years old who is collecting garbage
from dirty place. It’s not a major problem in India especially in cities urban
areas but I seen different from other story. This boy has put on his school dress
during collecting garbage. While I saw him, really speaking my heartbeat
increased, I shocked what happened in our country. I went to near to him. I
say” Hi! What is your name? My name is Irfan, he replies to me with a quite
smile. Well you not go for school today? I asked. He told that, had go. Ok I
say, so you not went at your home after school off. He says that” Yes I came
directly from school. Then I put a question for his, why you come directly from
school? He told” if I will not collect
some garbage then will be beaten by my parents. Why? I asked. He told” don’t
know. Then I realized that something have behind it which he trying to hide with me while I saw interested
to know about his family social and
economy status so I called to him that
Irfan you would share about your family
with me. I want know it, don’t fear about that you time will be waste. If you
will share about your family than I give you fifty rupees for it which can fulfill
of your today desire. I want to give more amounts but I am also a student so I cannot
do this. Then he agrees to talk with me about his family social status, economy
status and family background. After it, I
put some easy question for him. What is your parents’ profession? Where are you
live? You want to going school? And why you collecting garbage with wearing
school dress?
He stared
telling about his family all aspect. He says that” I belong to a too poor family.
We have no any house or land so we live in slum which is situated in you left
direction, you can see it from here. We do not take on rent because my father
is a labour, and have not particular skill for livelihood. In a weak he sit two
or three at home by effected of unemployment and some time lack of good health.
Mother is house hold, mostly time she busy in house works. She is facing some major
disease but still she has been doing house works as a wife and as mother. Total
number of family is six including with my parents. I am elder from to my three brothers
and one sister, sister is smaller than all she is seven month old. She is too
thin and facing nutrition food that’s why she is victim of some disease and my
brother is not capable for works and other thing, all time they live with
mother and cry for eating food so after my father the responsibilities come on
me. Therefore my parents not want to send me in school. They want to that I
would do something for livelihood, I cannot do hard work at that stage of age
so he tell me for collecting garbage because it is easy but still I go to
school because I want to become a good man. My parents not happy for this that I go
to school because there is two thing behind it first is both are not educated
even they have not basic education so do not give more importance to schooling
and education and second is that according to them if I will collect garbage
whole day then I earn more money for family support. But I want to schooling
therefore at morning I go for school then after it I come directly from school
for pick up garbage. Up to evening pick
up garbage then go to home, after reach at home complete my school home works
then I care to my sister because my mother has busy in cooking food
Now question
on education that is a boy want to acquire knowledge but luck of family support
or family bad condition not allow to him for schooling. He has not more freedom
and not more time study. Even his parents directly say that you will not go to
school. They trite like a labour at childhood stage, not a little boy who is
their son. Their acceptation high from him, he would collect garbage whole day
and earn more amount. Their acceptations like that he is twenty years old man
His parents have no any ambition for their child future. They have only one
ambition from him that he earns money as possible as.
Question is
that where is problem? Why his parents
not want to send him in school like other parents why his parents expected that
he will earn some money at childhood stage. May be some kind of particular
problem with them but here primary problem of his family is source of income.
His father is labour so they have not sufficient income. That’d why his parents
not allow him for schooling. This boy Irfan face poor situation of family but
still he have desire to go to school and want to become a good man. Our government
is not serious about that type situation, every month every years government
has formation some policy for poor but they could not apply it on right way.
They just think but nothing does. They say that every child is future of India,
but if child live in that situation there he so we can think that where is
going future of India. There a child struggle for education. Yes it is right
that his family is not supportive because there parent cannot effort to this
but also government is not appearing more interest. They have no any useful
policy which could help that types of problem.
